Monmday, July 14, 2008: I saw him standing over me. Here, Miss, this is a subway ticket, he said. Something in me didn't believe him. I sat on the steps of St. Bart's on Park Avenue and 50th. Quickly checking my purse, I discovered that my wallet was missing. The man ran away and I chased him down Park and then over to Lexington and the subway station. Police! Police! I shouted. Who would hear me at 3 in the morning? But I persisted and went after him. On one of the steps going to the trains, I saw my brown leather-like wallet open, face down. By some miracle almost everything inside it was still there. The thief had been a small time, cowardly thing.

Eugenia,
Why NYC? Why didn't you stay in Norfolk? Isn't it a little safer here?

Thais, It's nice to hear from you after all this time. Did you get a chance to read my novel Different Flags? I left Norfolk because my sister moved to CA, had nowhere to live in Norfolk after she left. I cannot drive so it is very difficult getting around in Norfolk without a car. How are you? Eugenia

Eugenia, i sent the book to my mom as a birthday present, she loved it. It breaks my heart that you find yourself in that situation. My heart goes out to you, but never loose hope Eugenia. Everything gets better, one day you'll look back and laugh :)
What are your plans?

Thais, Your mother I think lives in Miami? Glad that she liked it. Yes, I can't wait to leave the street. It isn't very safe and I do not get any sleep. My plans? One day at a time. Am asking people to let me know of any jobs, like translations, Spanish lessons. Should you have any suggestions, they will be welcome. How are you spending your summer? Eugenia
